Frank Chimero is a designer. Working on page and screen. Striving to produce work that enhances the every day and improves how we live. In 2011, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, I wrote a book called The Shape of Design about the whys of design and how it moves. It’s due out in 2012. I frequently speak at conferences, and one can see my talk from Build that inspired the book, read a version of my lecture from the AIGA Emerging Designers conference, or view my favorite, the presentation I gave at Do Lectures about gifts and working the long, hard, stupid way. Prior to living in New York, I taught undergraduate design students at Portland State and Missouri State. Since moving, I have worked with graduate students at SVA in the Interaction Design department. Rob Giampietro and I started a conversational blog called The Mavenist to bring the epistle to the web. We've discussed everything from permutations to forked reality. I'm interested in many fields adjacent to design, like anthropology, psychology, and art history.
